One of Memphis’s native sons will entertain delegates at the upcoming Memphis evening at BankTravel 2011 in Baton Rouge. The Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau will be bringing nationally known Andy Childs and the Memphis Sounds band to their dinner event on Monday, February 7.

“We can’t wait for your delegates to hear Andy and his band,” said Pat Jones of the Memphis CVB. “We are so excited about hosting the 2012 conference, and we can’t think of a better way to bring everyone to Memphis than to let them party in Baton Rouge with Andy Childs and the Memphis Sounds.”

Childs’ professional resume is impressive. He has opened for musicians including Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Clint Black, Trisha Yearwood, Charlie Daniels and others. Many may have heard his band, Sixwire, during the FOX broadcast of “The Next Great American Band” a couple of years ago. That band finished second in the nationally televised competition.

“I can remember a few times in the past where our BankTravel delegates rushed the stage and covered the dance floor in seconds flat,” said conference vice president Teresa Burton. “Something tells me we’re in for that kind of evening with this event — I certainly hope so!

“Memphis has as rich a musical heritage as any city in America, and I think Andy Childs and his band will uphold that incredible tradition for us in Baton Rouge!”

Currently, Childs is touring with the Memphis Sounds and has played corporate events for companies like FedEx, Disney, Sun Microsystems and many more.

“We’re bringing just a little bit of Memphis to Baton Rouge at our event,” said Jones. “Just enough to make everyone there want to join us for an incredible conference next year in Memphis!”

The evening will include a spectacular seated dinner followed by Childs and his band. Bring your dancing shoes, because you won’t be able to remain seated once they hit the stage!

If your bank has not yet registered for the 2011 BankTravel Conference to be held February 6-8 in Baton Rouge, there’s still time!
