Italy

Italy’s rich history, stunning architecture and delectable cuisine make it a perennial favorite.

“Italy is the ideal vacation destination for groups of travelers because it offers a wide number of experiences and can accommodate every member’s interests,” said Dalia Feldman, marketing manager at Tourist Italy. “Travelers don’t have to choose between indulging in exquisite cuisine, exploring fascinating historical sites or enjoying stunning landscapes — they can experience it all in one trip.”

Rome’s Colosseum, Vatican City and the Pantheon are must-sees, while Florence’s Renaissance art and Venice’s canals offer cultural and romantic allure. And with Vatican City just a few steps away from Rome, Feldman adds that you have the unique opportunity to cross into another country and witness the seat of the Roman Catholic Church, all in a single day.

Groups can move away from the main cities to explore the charming hill towns of Tuscany, such as San Gimignano and Montepulciano, for wine tasting and breathtaking views.

“For centuries, Tuscany has been home to historic, family-run farms and factories that produce some of the world’s finest products,” Feldman said.

Groups will also find unique experiences in the coastal region of Puglia, known for its whitewashed towns and crystal-clear waters, and Sardinia, filled with beautiful beaches and rugged landscapes.

Emerging Hotspots

For groups seeking fresh experiences and undiscovered wonders, these up-and-coming destinations offer a unique blend of adventure, culture and natural beauty. These places are quickly becoming favorites among those looking to explore beyond the usual tourist trails.

Jordan

Jordan’s ancient ruins and stunning desert landscapes offer a rich and immersive travel experience, with Petra, the rose-red city carved into rock, and the therapeutic Dead Sea topping the list.

“Of course, the iconic Petra is a must-see, but the vast Wadi Rum desert is a very special and spiritual place and my personal favorite,” said Janine Jervis, communications director for the Jordan Tourism Board North America. “Jordan is also rich in biblical history and is home to some of the most important biblical and pilgrimage sites.”

People’s initial thoughts about Jordan’s landscape is that it is barren and desert-like, but Jervis points out that the northern part of the country is green with rolling forests, while the center of the country offers gorges and canyons and the clear waters of the Red Sea, perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving.

“As you go farther south, Jordan does become more desert-like, with more Bedouin cultural lifestyle and food,” she said. “From some of the most amazing and tasty street food, to fine dining, to regenerative farm-to-table, Jordan is also a culinary haven and always a welcome surprise to both vegans and meat lovers.”

Lesser-known sites like the Roman ruins of Jerash, the diverse wildlife in the Dana Biosphere Reserve and the coastal city of Aqaba add to Jordan’s allure. And the capital city of Amman, with its mix of ancient and modern attractions, offers a vibrant cultural experience.

Morocco

Morocco is a land of enchanting contrasts. Marrakech’s vibrant markets, historic palaces and lush gardens are a must-visit and are some of the most popular first stops when flying into the country.

“Marrakech is a melting pot of Amazigh, Arab and Musulman influences,” said Mountassir Boullal, deputy manager at the Conseil Régional du Tourisme de Marrakech. “The city’s historic Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, bustling souks and architectural marvels like the Medersa Ben Youssef and Bahia Palace.”

Essaouira’s coastal charm and the Atlas Mountains’ stunning scenery offer everything from beachside relaxation to adventurous hikes. Visitors will also love the markets everywhere they go.

“They offer a variety of goods, from spices and textiles to traditional crafts and jewelry,” Boullal said. “The lively atmosphere, combined with the art of haggling, provides a unique shopping experience that is both thrilling and authentic.”

Food lovers will find Morocco a culinary paradise.

“Traditional Moroccan dishes such as tagine, couscous, chicken with lemon confit and pastilla are must-tries,” Boullal said. “And Moroccan pastries and tea are symbols of Moroccan hospitality and often served in charming riads or street food stalls.”

There are plenty of hidden treasures to discover in the blue city of Chefchaouen, Ouarzazate (the “Gateway to the Sahara”) and the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. And the Sahara Desert, with its golden dunes and star-filled nights, is a magical setting for camping and camel rides.

“The region around Marrakech provides numerous opportunities for adventure, from hiking in the Atlas Mountains to exploring the Agafay Desert on camelback or quad biking,” said Boullal.
