Those venues and destinations offering domestic getaways “just for the girls” don’t need convincing that women’s travel is booming. Yancy Arterburn, general manager of the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch in Emigrant, Montana, sells out his upscale ranch resort’s Wild West Women Adventure three times a year.
“Many of our women have returned seven and eight times,” he said.
Women participate in interactive demonstrations on that working cattle ranch, learn to groom and tack horses, and explore 8,000 acres of unspoiled ranch property.
“They can also fly-fish on our private trout ponds, explore Yellowstone National Park on a guided tour and learn to two-step to the tunes of our local musicians,” Arterburn said.
Optional daily horseback rides, hiking and yoga can also be part of that Big Sky Country experience.
And if a high level of activity isn’t on a few of your travelers’ wish lists, no problem: Soaking up the sunshine by the pool, singing Western songs on a hayride and enjoying gourmet meals around the campfire are often the favorite experiences of even the most avid cowgirls.
