LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Groups will soon be able to watch the bourbon crafting process before sampling in downtown Louisville’s Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Set to open fall 2013, the distillery will be the first in downtown Louisville since prohibition.

The tour will take guests through not only the ins and outs of making bourbon, but will also tell the history of Evan Williams, who set up his distillery in Louisville almost directly across from where the Evan Williams Bourbon experience will be located.

The multi-million dollar distillery will be located on the city’s Museum Row on Main Street. Evan Williams, Heaven Hill’s flagship bourbon brand, became Kentucky’s first distiller in 1783. Heaven Hill Distilleries is one of the largest family-owned and operated distilled spirits companies in the country. Its bourbon brand Evan Williams is the second largest selling bourbon in the United States.

The new attraction will fit into the city’s Urban Bourbon Trail, which currently includes two dozen locations, many of them downtown near Museum Row. These boubon focused restaurants range from laid back to fine dining.
