Are you ready for Graceland? Memphis and its partners are planning an opening evening event for BankTravel 2012 that is going to shake, rattle and roll you away!

“For a year now, we’ve been telling you to ‘Bank on Memphis!,’ and in a few weeks we’re going to show you why!” said Lisa Catron, national sales manager for the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau and BankTravel’s contact person for the upcoming conference. “There’s nowhere on earth quite like Memphis!”

The evening begins compliments of the Shreveport/Bossier CVB, which is providing games and beverages for the transportation over to Graceland. But it’s not just transportation — it’s a “hayride” via motorcoach that harkens back to the hayrides Elvis Presley himself made famous during his times in Shreveport.

On site, delegates will be treated to an evening of musical entertainment, world-famous Memphis cooking and lots of beverages.

Delegates will enjoy small group tours of this iconic home of Presley, including the entertainer’s car museum, the Chrome Grill Diner and much more.

“This is where Elvis Presley lived, relaxed and spent time with his friends and family,” said conference vice president Teresa Burton. “For his millions of avid fans across the world — and for more casual fans — touring Graceland is an experience everyone should have the chance to enjoy.

“Elvis is arguably America’s greatest rock-and-roll innovator and performer of all time. He is a worldwide figure even now, decades after his death, and his place in history is almost unrivaled by any other American performer of any type.”

Delegates will enjoy seeing his cars, his jets, his media impact and his singular array of custom-made clothing. Handmade shirts, suits, jewelry, shoes — it’s all at Graceland to be enjoyed by BankTravel Conference delegates.

“We have dignitaries attending from our convention bureau, from the Tennessee Department of Tourism Development and from Graceland itself,” said Catron. “In effect, the entire state of Tennessee and the great city of Memphis will be on hand to greet our very special guests — the bank travel directors of this conference. And to be able to do that at the home of Elvis Presley will make for an evening none of us will ever forget!”
