Tour a historic mansion where Abraham Lincoln stayed overnight or visit a botanical garden that has won numerous awards for its exceptional beauty. Experience an elevated wine and hand-made chocolate tasting at a winery housed in a building on the National Registry of Historic Places. You will also find a wide selection of restaurants and shopping to suit your groups every interest.

Rock County Historical Society and the Lincoln-Tallman Museum

Tour the Lincoln-Tallman House museum, an Italianate villa-style mansion where Abraham Lincoln was a guest in 1859. Today the home, located on the grounds of the Rock County Historical Society (RCHS), has been restored and still houses 75% of the original furnishings from the Tallman family. Also located on the RCHS grounds is the Helen Jeffris-Wood Museum Center. It offers galleries that feature collections of Pauline Pottery and Pickard China, Parker Pen, and rotating exhibits celebrating the history and heritage of Rock County. The campus gift shop offers unique items created by local artisans, from pottery to jewelry and artwork to books. In November and December, take in the beauty of the Holiday Tree Show when more than 100 decorated Christmas trees are on display throughout the mansion.

Rotary Botanical Gardens

Explore this award winning, 20-acre non-profit botanic garden, where you’ll find dramatic and themed gardens along with a variety of unique sculptures, statues and memorials. Some of the gardens have an international focus, such as the Japanese and English Cottage gardens, while others are less formally structured, such as the children’s garden, Hosta Hollow, Wellness Garden and labyrinth, and the fern and moss garden. Enjoy other seasonal displays such as the Garden Art Project during the summer, and the Holiday Light Show in November and December, when the garden is filled with more than 1.5 million dazzling lights.

K & W Greenery

Tour this nearly 2-acre indoor greenhouse growing operation and a nursery that is widely considered one of southern Wisconsin’s finest. Visit the gift shop, take a class, or create something special to take home with you.

Northleaf Winery

This urban family winery is housed in an 1850 building with a long agricultural history. All wines are made on site from grapes grown mostly in California, but also from such diverse places as Chile, New York State and Wisconsin. The tasting room is warm and genuine – and on the National Registry of Historic Places. Try a flight, pair some chocolate or cheese, enjoy live music, and shop the boutique.
