Thrill seekers now have more opportunities to enjoy Alaska’s beauty from above with two new canopy tours that opened in 2012.

In May, Mica Guide’s Glacier View Adventures (www.micaguides.com/zipline.html) opened in the Mat-Su Valley, sporting a zip line that soars 200 feet high and stretches over a quarter of a mile with views of surrounding mountains and the Matanuska Glacier.

Denali Zipline Tours (www.denaliziplinetours.com), located in Talkeetna, opened in June offering visitors eight zip line courses across the northern boreal forest with a bird’s-eye view of Mount McKinley and the Alaska Range.

In addition to these newcomers, there are a number of other zip-line tour providers around the state. Along Alaska’s Inside Passage, Alaska Zipline Adventures (www.alaskazip.com) in Juneau offers a canopy tour through the pristine Alaska rainforest, and Alaska Canopy Adventures (www.alaskacanopy.com) has three different zip-line tours available in Juneau or Ketchikan.

Those coming to Alaska on a cruise ship can also sign up to enjoy a zip-line adventure by booking a shore excursion with Skagway Adventure Park and Zip Lines (www.skagwayzip.com) or Icy Strait Point (www.icystraitpoint.com) ZipRider.
