Web Exclusive: Old Bisbee Ghost Tour
Bisbee, Arizona
The arts community of Bisbee was once an old copper-mining town. “Founded in 1880, Bisbee was a violent place, and for 90 minutes after dark, we explore all the creepy streets, alleys and stairways that offer great ambiance,” said Renee Gardner, owner of Old Bisbee Ghost Tours and, as deemed by the local chamber of commerce, the official ambassador to the ghosts and spirits of Bisbee.
This walking tour takes those who dare to locations such as the Oliver House, the Bisbee Inn, the local cemetery and the Copper Queen Hotel. “The Copper Queen is considered the jewel of Bisbee. It is haunted by over 16 spirits, and we also offer a ghost hunt just at the Copper Queen,” Gardner said.
Throughout the tour, participants are likely to encounter a legendary lady in white who once saved the lives of three boys, a ghost cat and Julia, a former prostitute at the Copper Queen who is said to have taken her own life.
Gardner encourages small groups to take a Hearse Tour of Bisbee and “give our ride a try before you die.” Or, for those who prefer the bar ambiance for storytelling, try the Haunted Pub Crawl, where “the spirits are guaranteed.”
